      Business Intelligence Analyst Interview

      7 June 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Motley Fool in Mar 2021

      Interview

I applied for a job online with a personalized cover letter and heard back from a recruiter a few days later. I had a 30 min phone interview first with a recruiter which was basically chatting and going over my background and interest. After that I was set up with a 30 min phone call with two of the team leads which was very casual- high level questions about my background and data related topics and had the chance to ask questions and get a feel for the role. Once I made it through this round there was a technical project (SQL based) and then finally had what would normally be an in-person interview, but because of covid it was a zoom call for about 2.5/3 hours meeting in groups of 2 or 3 for 30 mins at a time. Got to meet lots of Fools I would be interacting with in the role and ask all questions related to the job and company. Heard back very quickly with an offer from the same recruiter (Dan- he was awesome) who had been coordinating the whole process. It took probably a little over a month for the entire process.

      Question 1

Mostly behavioral questions and talking through resume and background and then for the technical project it was scenario descriptions and I would write the SQL needed to get the correct result

      Interview

Initial HR screening to explain interview process and cover some high level behavioral interview questions. Second interview is with hiring manager(s) who ask much more in-depth technical questions. Then, problem set to solve. All conference calls so connection could be spotty.

      Business Intelligence Analyst Interview

      2 Aug 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Motley Fool (New York, NY)

      Interview

I'm actually pretty disappointed with the interview process because I had only heard good things about Motley Fool and the company culture. I had interviewed for a business intelligence analyst position, and I was told that I did extremely well in the first interview and that I should be on the lookout for a second round interview extremely soon. I soon never heard back at all, and when I reached out to the person, after 2 weeks of silence, with whom I had originally spoke with, they told me that they had received another candidate. I was never told that I did not get the position and even after that reaching out, I was never given more information, even after being promised a follow-up discussion about the process. I'm not upset with MF that I did not get the position, and that is not the focus of this review, but more that I'm annoyed that a company was such great reviews ghosted me in the candidate process. We spend a lot of time preparing for these interviews and especially during this coronavirus time, sometimes interviews are scarce. I felt really good hearing the initial feedback and then I wasn't given a single amount og feedback afterwards, let alone an email stating that I did not get the position - I was ghosted. Please don't ghost the people that you interview. At the very least please email them and let them know that they did not get the position, especially after telling them that they should be expecting a second round interview.
