I really liked the hiring manager and cross-functional partners I interviewed with — interview process was rigorous with the hiring manager, fairly easy with others. Ultimately, I declined the offer because the skip level got on their phone a few times during my 1:1 interview with them and did not acknowledge it (a simple “oh, I’m waiting for an important ping” or some context would have been helpful). It felt disrespectful and indicated to me that a good culture was not top of mind. I didn’t think that I’d be on a team where my time was valued. It was a hard decision, but ultimately the right one for me.
