      Manager Interview

      16 Feb 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The RealReal (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Interviewed with Sr. management and Sr. Executive. Both very pleasant individuals. At the end of the interview I was told that i'd be receiving an offer. Several weeks later after multiple followup emails to which I got no response; their HR department sent me an email stating that they would be pursuing another individual. I respect their decision however the lack of communication was unprofessional.

      Interview

Great experience working with the recruiters and hiring team at The RealReal. Interviews were conversational, I was always informed of next steps and everyone was extremely friendly. The process moved quickly and helped influence my decision to join the company after receiving the offer.

      Manager Interview

      24 Sept 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The RealReal in Sept 2020

      Interview

6 interviews total. Two were duplicates with the same person on different days. I was reached out to by the recruiter and had a pleasant introductory call. The process moved quickly after that and I had 6 interviews in less than two weeks, including an interview that was on a Saturday. After the final interview I was told that I would hear something by the next day. A week passed and I followed up with the recruiter. I received a prompt response that no decision had been made. I reached out again after another week had passed and received no response. It has been nearly 3 weeks since the last contact. Ghosting is the game this company likes to play, as others have mentioned. I respect any company’s decision to choose the most qualified candidate, but please have the decency to let someone know they did not receive the position after putting so much time in. It’s too easy to go onto LinkedIn and see if someone else was chosen. I honestly consider this experience a bullet dodged. I wouldn’t want to work for a company that takes so much of your time only to not have the courtesy to follow up and close a candidate out. Not to mention, some of the interviews were completely unproductive and unnecessary in my opinion. One of the interviewers repeated every question they asked me in the previous interview with them, as if they had not paid attention the first time. On the positive, the manager that would be the chosen candidate’s boss was extremely courteous, personable and a delight to speak with. They were the only reason I was able to overlook any other bad vibes I was getting. Moral of the story: Run away. Don’t waste your time.

      Manager Interview

      5 Oct 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chicago, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The RealReal (Chicago, IL) in Aug 2020

      Interview

In-house recruiter reached out first for a screen interview then met with director. The recruiter was late to our call and blamed it on me, which made a bad first impression. The director was in workout clothes and seemed disinterested in the interview altogether. She was not very respectful in general.
