On sending the application you received an email to invite you to the club to present your vision of the tennis department. No phone interview to check you had the right attitude, experience, etc. just straight into an interview where you are expected to prepare a presentation of how you will improve their business. They didn’t send any information to assist with this preparation. How can you prepare a plan for a business you haven’t any data on - revenue numbers, membership retention and so on. They also didn’t disclose who would be in the room and so you couldn’t prepare fully. The interview/presentation format was ok. They said they would contact you on a particular date and then they didn’t and when you emailed to ask, the sent a generic email to all applicants that there was a delay. Then those who were not successful for the next step were sent a generic email of rejection. When you personally put together a presentation and take the time to do so you should at least get a personalised email response back and not a blind copy response. It’s very unprofessional. Overall I found the process to be very unprofessional and not very respectful of the candidates time or expertise. Essentially they just had free consultation of ideas to improve the business.
