I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Y (YMCA) (Laurens, SC) in June 2011
Interview
It was simple, one-on-one. There was no tough questions. Most of the question surrounded around children, camp and activities I was aware of from he YMCA organization. Other questions involved my training in CPR and lifeguarding. If you had not had CPR and First Aide training then you were told of classes that you could take at the YMCA to get certified. It's mandatory that all camp counselor employees have those certifications. The interview was short, not formal, very casual. I'm not sure if references were called or not but the application did ask for them. The interview lasted around 15 minutes, most of that casual chatter. The hiring manager was extremely kind and not at all intense. There was no real pressure.
It was quick and efficient. The interview was conducted online over video call. There were multiple rounds of interviews. I talked with two different people who were in charge of hiring.
Group interview zoom call. Various ping pong style questions. Pretty straight forward asked about how you would fit and what made you stand out. The call was about 15-20 minutes.
Met up with manager in office, got asked a few standard questions, before getting shown around the place. Very standard and simple for any teen looking for a part time job
