      Research Analyst Interview

      2 Nov 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Third Bridge (London, England) in Oct 2014

      Interview

Process was fairly simple. I received an email a day after I sent my CV asking me to participate in a phone interview on the same day, I then used this day to prepare for the phone interview and the questions involved were very much CV based, asking questions like "how you found the transition from A levels to university" as well as general questions about Cognolink and what I thought they did. The interviewer then allowed me to ask questions myself, this is very important as it demonstrates to them that you have a genuine interest in the company so use this to create a really good impression. I was then called back three days later for a face-to-face interview. The second stage involved two back-to-back interviews with two different senior managers at the company, both of which were very friendly and easy to get on with and made the interview process much more relaxed and less nerving. My first interview was CV based and the interviewer really wanted to find out my motivations, strengths, weaknesses etc as well as asking a lot of questions about my CV such as the internships I've been involved with as well as my degree. The second interview was largely competency based asking questions like "tell me when you worked in a team" etc as well as a case study. The case study was definitely the hardest part and it's the reason I didn't get the job. It's also arguably the most important part because such scenarios will happen on a day-to-day basis at the firm. I would definitely advise practising this as much as possible. Also your commercial awareness will really be tested so the days prior to your interview make sure you keep up to date with all the current business news, read FT etc.

      Interview

Dont let them trick you into thinking this is an actual research position. You will be cold calling people most of your day. The interview process is relatively simple, first spoke with a recruiter who passed me onto an in-person round. I never heard from them after that.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Given this case industry, what types of industry experts would you contact on behalf of a client who is looking to invest in a company within that sector.

      Interview

Had an interview for Forum role in Hongkong. Straightforward interview. The recruiter was very pleasant and nice, she was very professional. Prepare for your understanding of the role, although she was very nice in explaining the role in details, you knew it’s a major concern if you have no idea about the position youre applying. She also provides transparent feedback which I really appreciates. Not all companies or recruiters do the same. I always see this recruiter in job fairs and she’s overall nice and very accommodating. I would recommend trying an interview as it will change your perspective about the company and the role.
