I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at TikTok in July 2022
Interview
- On the first round of interviews, I had to reschedule twice because the recruiter never showed up. Once they did show up we had a great talk. It seemed liked a done deal from the POV of the recruiter, so they send me to the next round
- Second round: I had to wait 10+ days to schedule an interview with the regional team coordinator or something, he asked the exact same questions the first interview did, and right there also told me TikTok is a big company but I would have to perform tasks that amounted to what I could only conclude should be three different job positions instead of one. The second interviewer also made it very clear I should be available 7 days a week, at any time due to the time difference from other teams.
- I still did not receive ANY kind of feedback from my last interview, and even though the experience was not good, I did try to reach out twice to the hiring team without any response
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Why do you think you're a good fit for TikTok?
- Background and Professional Experience summary
- Why do you want to leave your current job?
- What is the project you're most proud of?
- What is your current salary?
Interview was decent. Interviewer was honest and detailed about scope, Questions are the usual and case study on the spot. Recruiter was slow and not very responsive or helpful during the whole process.
The interview process was quick and efficient. I didnt feel like the questions went into much depth. The interviewer was polite but didnt really have much to say about company benefits.
Applied for several non-tech positions and got reached out for sales role. Had HR pre screening call first, then with hiring manager, then with 1 teammate and another 1 cross-functional team member, then the HR for offer negotiation.
