While looping in interviews I learned that the role was open because the previous person was fired. This was a potential massive red flag in leadership expectations and quality of management. Upon questioning about work life balance the expectations given were also a huge red flag. I was left with no interest in moving forward in the process after learning this. However, the next step was building a presentation for homework. I decided to do it as an exercise to learn. What do I have to lose? What happened next shocked me.
I was given an extremely limited amount of time to complete this task, 2 days... Saturday and Sunday. Another red flag in terms of harsh working conditions and expectations from senior management. I made it happen, because I knew I could at least grow in the process of completing it. I turned it in and I never heard back.
Having looped in person well enough to move to the next step, having just handed in a presentation that I spent hours of my weekend on there was no response. Complete lack of respect for my time and candidacy.
Looked later and noticed the hiring manager was gone less than 6 months later. What a nightmare.
