      Cashier Interview

      2 Nov 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Pleasanton, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us (Pleasanton, CA) in Oct 2011

      Interview

I applied for a position at Babies R Us online. I was called a week later to come in for a interview after answering various simple phone questions such as "Are your availability hours the same?" "Do you still want to apply here", simple yes or no questions. I was scheduled for a group interview the next day at 9:30am. When I arrived, they had the group wait a few minutes so we all introduced ourselves to each other which made the mood less stressful. Some people applied a month ago and some people applied for Toys R Us, but were being interviewed at Babies R Us. Then we were given a group tour and were told to pick an item from the store to sell to her (HR manager). I chose a first aid/grooming kit while the others chose toys. My advice: pick out something that can easily sell itself, something that encourages the customer to buy something else such as a toy which needs batteries, or something that you have personal experience with. After presenting each item, we then had to partner up and choose an item from a group in the corner. We chose a baby monitor and listed all its uses. We took turns saying each point. Afterwards, we each had a 1:1 interview with the HR manager. She asked some situational questions and just basic interview questions. The HR woman was very friendly and it went extremely well. She told me right then and there she wants me to go for a second interview with the Store Manager, but didn't know which store I would work for; Babies R Us or Toys R Us. I was told I would be called a week later as to when I would interview with the Store Manager. A week later she called to confirm for a second interview and would call me in two days. When she called, she told me she talked to her Store Manager and he said to just go ahead and hire me so I accepted.
