I initially submitted an application for a part-time crew member position that I had printed off online. I took my completed application into my store's location, asked for a manager, and handed it over. I asked when I could expect to hear back from someone and was told they typically look over applications once a week and would contact me.
I followed up with them just before a week passed to make sure the application had gotten into the right hands and was told they were still looking everything over. A couple days later I got a call from one of the Mates to schedule an initial interview. We scheduled for that upcoming Saturday and I interviewed with the same Mate that had contacted me. We went over the basic stuff you might expect (former work experience, education, what I was currently doing, future plans for work/life/etc.) and just did a lot of chit-chatting. I got a really good vibe from her, but was still anxious!
Just a few days later I got a phone call from the store Captain asking me to come in for a second interview. We scheduled it for a weekday evening, but ended up having to postpone (on their end, not mine). We rescheduled for Saturday afternoon (so a week after my first interview). I had felt pretty good about the first interview, but was still nervous! Anyway, we pretty much went over many of the things that I had already discussed with the Mate at my first interview.
I wasn't asked any weird or scenario-based questions (i.e. If you caught a co-worker stealing from the store, what would you do? If you are told to do two different tasks by different Mates, how would you handle the situation? That sort of stuff.) at either interview.
After my interview with the store Captain, I waited to hear back from him. He called me the Wednesday after my interview and offered me a position starting at $12/hr. I told him I was looking for something more in the $13-14/hr range and he told me he'd think about it. He called me back two days later and offered me $12.50/hr (which is really all I was expecting, so that was good!). I accepted the position and started just over a week later.
I found out later that the Mate went back after the first interview and told the Captain they should hire me ASAP, so that was nice to hear! I really didn't have too much to worry about during the second interview!
