I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Trails Carolina
Interview
Interviewer seemed unprepared, and asked very few relevant follow up questions. It gave the impression that the bar for hiring was fairly low, which made me uneasy given the difficulty of this type of role.

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Trails Carolina (Lake Toxaway, NC) in July 2018
Interview
Pre-hire is a multi day camping trip where you learn a little about how to interact with the students. It is very hard to mimic the actual day to day without the actually being in a group with the students. At the end of the prehire you have your final interview. You will be offered the job, they offer it to everyone who goes to the pre-hire seminar.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Trails Carolina (Lake Toxaway, NC) in Jan 2017
Interview
They had you for a weekend after the initial interview to train you- they usually hire everyone who applied for the job. They have you do tasks and pretend to be a student in the program as well as a guide. You have to do all the things a student would do in the program. You backpack for a few days. Its ok if you dont know how to do some tasks they teach you and its not a big deal to the employer.
