I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TransPerfect (New York, NY) in July 2013
Interview
I heard about this company through a friend while catching up with him after months of not seeing each other. After I talked to the hiring manager via a phone interview, I had to take a 2-hour proofreading test at home. A week later, I got called in for an interview.
The interviewee did most of the talking, which I thought was a good sign, since they must not have had many reservations about me. They told me they would let me know a week later. I followed up when I got no response, and they said someone else who had an interview a while back filled the position.
They were impressed with me, so I had another phone interview a week later for a Project Coordinator position. However, I was declined after the phone interview.

Question 1
I did not really have any tough questions. It was the typical interview questions that anybody can answer if honest.

Interview
Everything was fine and transparent. Got to fill an online profile first, then was guided through the testing process. No face-to-face interview, so to speak. Felt secure at every moment.

If my current experience was related to the field I was applying to join
Phone call from recruiter, basic screening questions then you move onto a test and maintain very good contact with the person giving the test (they email back almost immediately when you ask a question). Once you send in the test they say you will hear back within a week. A week and a half passed I emailed the same person who was replying quickly before and have heard nothing. Very unprofessional. Would rather a rejection than being completely ghosted.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at TransPerfect
Interview
I applied online and got an email a few weeks later asking my availability for a phone intervew. The hiring manager also asked me about my salary requirement and to pass his information along to anyone who might be interested in working for TransPerfect. I replied with a very low-ball salary for a Quality Manager, $55,000 and a time when he could call and never heard back. Not even an email to reschedule the phone interview. This says a lot about their professionalism. This also tells me they are desperate and don’t want to pay a decent salary. They have an incredible amount of job postings, which also tells me they have a retention problem. Well, if they barely know how to conduct themselves during the hiring process, then clearly they won’t know how to retain people. I would stay away from this company unless you are as desperate as them.
