I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TransRe in Oct 2020
Interview
Overall, the interview process was very long.
The first stage was a phone call with the hiring manager where we went over my past job experiences and I sent over sample code.
The second stage was 2 hours with 2 separate people on machine learning questions. Both people asked the exact same questions which demonstrates they did not coordinate beforehand.
Then I received a take home challenge to build a model using their data and any other data I wanted to incorporate. The challenge was extremely vague and difficult to produce meaningful results. They said the challenge should take only 3 hours but it took me almost all weekend to complete, despite my results still being poor.
I still made it to the final round of interviews which consisted of eight one hour interviews with executives at TransRe. The questions I was asked seemed more conversational and to gauge my personality rather than technical.
Shortly after the final interview, I was told that I was not selected for a position because my job tenure at past positions was too short and seemed like a red flag. TransRe could have dealt with this better by addressing their concerns at an earlier stage.
The whole process was incredibly disrespectful to my time and demonstrated that TransRe is not organized enough to conduct meaningful interviews. The recruiter who connected me with this position later admitted that he had heard terrible things about the hiring manager for this position.
