      Bus Operator Interview

      11 Feb 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Portland, OR
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at TriMet (Portland, OR) in Dec 2016

      Interview

A very lengthy, though they claim, vastly improved process which took a total of four months from initial inquiry to first day. First they screen the applicants. Then some are selected for a group session (16ppl) wherein they explain the job and process in more detail to give you a heads up of what to expect. Later this same day, those wishing to proceed may then complete a series of multiple choice questions presented in video scenarios. These are vignettes where they ask you what the best answer is, takes a couple hours. They also have a basic standard generic personality test where they ask questions like "You never have stolen anything ever - True or False?" etc. Another video module asks you to choose the appropriate driving actions based on a video. (hour long). You are notified in week if you passed and invited a week later to a interview with 2-3 persons. All questions are behavioral. (1hr) If you pass that you are invited to use an online system to manage your professional references. They complete the questionnaire online and submit. Must be 4 former managers 2 other. If you pass this step the invite you to a formal job offer meeting, explain the remaining steps (drug testing, physical) and when the training will begin answer questions. By the end of this, there will only be a couple people!
