Trinity Grammar School interview questions

I was asked by the principle if I have children, it is not a legal question to ask the candidate. Also the principle told me in the end of the interview that he is not in rush to employ anyone or to get back to me. The same day the school asked me for my referees' contact details and the HR officer said that they want to employ someone ASAP. Very confusing and disrespectful. I decided not to progress with references.
