I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Tsao-Wu, Chow, & Yee (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2014
Interview
The culture is very laid back and this is immediately apparent from the interview. It was almost too laid back as the interviewer very obviously did not read my resume beforehand and read it while asking me questions. We spent 15 minutes chatting about the culture at my law school, which he also attended. It seemed they were more concerned with personality fit over objective qualifications.
I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tsao-Wu, Chow, & Yee (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I applied via my law school's job posting website and received a reply within a week asking if I was interested in interviewing with the firm. There was a very brief (maybe 10 minutes) phone screen that consisted of general questions (i.e. why law school?) and to set up an in person interview.
The in-person interview was very informal and laid-back. I interviewed with John Chow and he was very friendly and we mostly ran through my resume. Like the other reviewer, the questions were mostly behavioral and seemed to be geared at whether or not I would be a good fit. Interestingly, I was asked about my lift routine as I listed that I "weight train" on my resume and had a 10 minute conversation about that.. After discussions with the other partners, I received an offer the next day.
Overall, it was an easy process (especially for 1L summer).
