I really had no idea what I was walking into. I did research on the company, but could not find a single client they had. The description about the company on the website was generic and vague, which for a marketing/pr/consulting company is problematic.
The interview did not last very long. It’s essentially direct marketing for a makeup company. They do trade shows, etc., but it had a feel of a street team-like environment. They couldn’t provide me with the names of any additional clients beyond the makeup company which isn’t even based in Las Vegas.
The use of “consultant” is also problematic. During the interview, they couldn’t tell me who they consulted with or for what type of industry or industries (i.e. business, gaming, government, etc.) A lot of other firms will list areas of focus on their website, but this company does not. It’s likely to get people in the door, which is a tad disingenuous.
In a moment of bluntness, I asked what about my particular background enticed them to call me. I was told by the individual that she wasn’t sure; maybe someone else could answer. I didn’t bother going any further.
