I wanted to write about my horrible, predatory experience to warn people against applying at this company. I had a phone interview with Mr. Daniel Stone and we both decided to take it to the next level of interview, which would be a "test-teach" to determine my teaching skills. Prior to the meeting, I thought it was odd that he hadn't yet sent me the materials to prep for this, so I reached out with a text asking if there was anything I should review beforehand. He didn't answer. At the meeting, he asked me if I'd prepared using the materials he sent. I told him that I never received them. He then sent them and asked me to look at them for two minutes and immediately teach one of his students. I told him that I would need additional time to prepare, as I didn't have any time with the prep materials. We talked about setting up a time later that evening, but as we spoke, I was so turned off by his lack of professionalism that I wondered if it was really worth pursuing. To determine if it was, I asked him to tell me how many hours per week he could offer and he told me 2-4. In the phone interview, he HAD told me that he could likely only offer a few hours but that he would know more when he got everyone's schedule. I wanted to re-verify this with him prior to declining the job because if it were more hours, I could deal with his lack of professionalism to put food on the table. When he told me 2-4, I very politely declined the job in the interest of saving each other's time later that day. This is where it gets incredibly disturbing. He individually contacted each of my PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES and sent them a lengthy, angry letter about how I was "unprepared" and wasted his time because I was told about the hours prior to meeting with him. He told them that they should never refer me again and even went so far as to call me "worthless" and "incapable of teaching". My references were disgusted by his lack of professionalism and luckily ignored it. When you're hiring, you have to prepare for some people to decline pursuing the job. You don't then have the right to try to blacklist them from getting a job elsewhere. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
