I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at U.S. News & World Report (Washington, DC) in June 2015
Interview
I applied online and then was contacted by Mia Liccini who setup a couple of phone interviews with me. After the phone interviews I was scheduled for an on person interview at their DC office and then I got an offer. Mia was very friendly, helpful, and was able to answer all my questions. Overall a very positive experience.

Interview
I applied online and was contacted by HR a few days later. We scheduled a phone interview that was very friendly, and answered all the questions I had about the work environment and culture.
Very soon after this I was asked to complete an assessment. It was two very simple exercises that took maybe an hour to complete.
Afterwards they scheduled a phone interview with one of the developers from the company. Again, very friendly and casual. We talked a bit about how I solved the exercises, my previous experience, the technologies they use, and other technical details of the job.
The final step was a face to face interview. The developer I did the phone interview with greeted me and sat down with me and explained to me what the interview would be about and all the people I would meet. Met with different groups of people, both developers and other roles I would be interacting with. A lot of the questions were about previous experience along with some technical questions, nothing too complicated though. Many of the questions turned into more of a conversation and I even learned a thing or two. Everyone was very friendly and seemed excited to meet me. The whole process took less than 2 hours, with a small break in between. Finally, I got a tour of the office and went on my way.
A couple weeks later I was contacted and scheduled for a phone call with a VP who then made me an offer.
It was a great experience. Communication was fast (same day replies), and the interviews were insightful and transparent.
