I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at U.S. News & World Report (Arlington, VA) in Dec 2024
Interview
--- Calls ---
1. Recruiter outreach
2. Cloud Director Interview
3. DevOps "Assessment" on GitHub
4. Team members Interview (DevOps and Sr. DevOps Engineer)
5. VP of Engineering Interview
6. CTO
--- Highlights ---
1. This company has unreasonable expectations and people are over worked.
2. "Home Assessments" to highly experienced candidates are a red flag.
--- The process ---
The position was titled and paid as a Sr. Engineer; however, the responsibilities were a mix of Lead + Manager + Sr. Engineer. This position would be the only person in the USA that would have to be hybrid 3x a week in their DC office and they expected the person to be on call 24/7. All other US employees are fully remote. The pay did not reflect the responsibilities and requirements (under paid $30K - $80K from market value).
