I applied online. I interviewed at US Naval Research Laboratory (Washington, DC)
Interview
It was just a casual zoom meeting with the supervisor of a lab as I applied through direct hire. Got asked some easy conceptual questions regarding projects on resume and relevant coursework
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What are some personal projects you took on outside of academic coursework?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at US Naval Research Laboratory (San Diego, CA) in Dec 2023
Interview
An email was sent out to setup a phone interview. The interview was more of a get-to-know session with some technical strengths and weaknesses discussion. This gives both the candidate and the interviewer (usually a supervisor) an idea if hired, which tasks suit the candidate the best.

Question 1
(Looking at the candidate's application and resume) Tell me more about this X project you worked on.
What did you do in the Navy?
What kind of projects have you done academically?
What specialty in EE are you most interested in?
Interview was smooth. It was more of a phone screening, and I got the role immediately after background check questions. Leverage connections if possible to receive a role with NRL, or apply through their portal.
