I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at US Patent and Trademark Office (Tampa, FL) in Aug 2014
Interview
Very easy basic phone screen lasting roughly 30 minutes, then offer. The most tedious part was the USAJobs application process. I discussed this with several new hires and they had similar experiences.
They mainly ask situational questions, nothing technical. I seriously doubt that the person interviewing me even had a technical background. They asked how I worked under stress.
I did a lot of preparation that went unused.
