I had worked for another Gannett property, so I had an inside edge. I had heard from a friend that this position was open, so I contacted HR about it. They set up the interview with the Marketing Director and I met first with him. After my meeting with him, I met with the VP Marketing. Both interviews went really well, I believe largely because I had that inside edge and understood the culture and exactly what they needed from that position.
