      Business Development Interview

      29 Mar 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Unboxed (London, England) in Mar 2019

      Interview

Submitted an application, had a screening call with the recruiter, and was then asked to come for an interview. I was asked to present ideas for building the business. Following this, I was then told that my background was not suitable, leaving me to wonder if this was little more than an exercise in getting some free ideas. Best avoid the company if you don't want your time wasted.

We are really sorry to hear your disappointment in our interview process for the Business Development role and apologise for any negative experiences in this interview. The interview processes across each role at Unboxed have been carefully designed for the team members interviewing to get a bit more of a flavour into candidate’s ways of working in a typical daily challenge that they might face in the role. For example, our interview process for developers includes a short coding exercise as it provides further detail into how candidates might tackle a technical challenge. Also our interview process for designers is a whiteboard challenge, in which candidates tackle a service design challenge, which might be faced during a typical project. Our intention with this interview was to give candidates an opportunity to demonstrate how they would apply their skills and experience within the context of Unboxed by identifying some specific opportunities and asking them to demonstrate how they might address them. Candidates have been assessed on their CV, a brief telephone call and a face-to-face interview, consisting of a conversation around their experiences and how they might specifically apply to Unboxed. We value trust and openness and we have taken your feedback on board. Aligned with our core principle of continuous improvement, we will seek specific feedback from other candidates to see how we might further improve our interview process. Thanks, Graeme
