      Seasonal Operations Administrative Interview

      10 Nov 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Brooklyn, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Uncommon Goods (Brooklyn, NY) in Oct 2019

      Interview

They had a large group of people sit and wait, calling individuals in one by one. I waited for over 4 hours, even though I arrived half an hour early before my scheduled interview. People who arrived later than me were seen ahead of me. Interview itself was pretty straight forward, focused on whether or not I had experience. Some position duties were revealed during the interview that were not expressed in the job posting, such has having to train other employees. I unfortunately did not possess much experience needed in some of the surprise duties. If I had known, I would not have applied for the position and be more prepared for the interview.

Thanks for reaching back out to share your feedback on your experience interviewing with our team last year. We never like to hear that anyone encountered difficulty during their interview process, and our team actively works to improve the process each year. In our seasonal hiring efforts last year, due to the large volume of candidates we took attendance and this caused the delays you mentioned. This year we are able to have 1:1 meetings virtually so there is no wait time. We also have clear job descriptions with all essential repsonsibilities listed. At times, if we are able to find other opportunities to embed in the responsibilities of a candidate, we may ask questions pertaining to leadership. This certainly would never disqualify a candidate if the role does not have leadership as an essential responsibility. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts. We hope the insight into our hiring process this year is helpful.
