      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uncommon Schools

      Interview

First I put in an online application that had a few short answer questions. Once I finally submit the application, the next day I received an email to do a phone interview. I originally applied to be an Office Manager but due to my experience, they said I would be a better fit for the Special Projects Coordinator position. The phone call was pretty short. Because I wrote lengthy answers in my application they only asked me about my skill levels with Excel and about a time I went above and beyond with customer service skills. Also they were just screening to see other important office skills I may have. Then they said they will give me an email if the Director of Operations wanted to interview me. Later on that same day I got an invite to go to Immersion Day which was later in the week. During Immersion Day, you are with other people going for the same position but there is no group interview. I did two correspondence tasks, a prioritization task, plan an event, role play and answered more interview questions. They look at how you can take in feedback. I even spoke to one of the current office managers about the position. That took about a few hours (free lunch!) and later that same day, I received and email to come back to the school again. Turns out it was for an Operations Immersion Day. I ended up doing various tasks which are tasks you will end up doing as an SPC as well as observations on how the school is ran. It's very important to introduce yourself and interact with the teachers while observing. Also it was more for the interviewee to know what they are getting themselves into. I had more feedback sessions. After another few hours that ended. A week later I heard back and they said they were emailing my references. Then I received another email from the Director of Operations asking to speak on the phone and that was when I received the offer.

      Interview

Video interview. You are sent a link by a recruiter and have about two days. You take it by yourself and send it in, someone 'asks' you the questions on the other end.

      Special Projects Coordinator Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Uncommon Schools in Apr 2019

      Interview

Pre recorded video interview that gave set amount of times to read/listen to the question, time to think, and time to respond. Overall it was a very structured process but I thought it was a little impersonal for a school position because I believe you should be able to show your personality more.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Uncommon Schools (Brooklyn, NY) in Oct 2018

      Interview

There was an initial screening interview, preset recorded questions to which you recorded your answers. This was similar to a phone interview. Then there was an in person interview where 4 or 5 other candidates were also brought in, but no aspect was a group interview. During the in person interview, 4 tasks were to be completed (write a letter to parents, an excel task, project management plan, etc.) and two 1 on 1 interviews were held. Overall, the interview took about 6 hours. The recruiter was kind, but the overall process was disorganized.
