Confusion in regards of interview started even before date and time of the interview has been scheduled. I have been contacted first by the HR from the office in the US who confirmed to me that my application has been accepted, but only couple of days after I have received an automated reply that my application did not pass. After contacting HR agent again in order to verify this situation, I was told that email with application has been declined was sent to me by mistake due to some issue and it has been already fixed in their system.
In couple of days after that I have received an email with confirmed date, time and names of the interviewers. Names of the interviewers were the same, different were only last names. At that point seemed weird, but as later on I have figured out, they have made mistake in the names, so last names were correct, but first name of one of the interviewers has been incorrectly written in the email.
On the day of the interview, I have arrived to the office 20 minutes in advance and immediately registered at the reception and started waiting for someone to come by to pick me up for the interview. But not in 20 min, not even 30 minutes after no one was coming. Once delay in timing became 20 minutes, and in total 40 minutes in total of me waiting at the reception, I got worried and approached receptionist again. I was re-assured that managers were informed at the moment of my registration (40 minutes ago) and receptionist looked worried and surprised herself about this delay. Finally 5 minutes after, one of the interviewers came by.
I was explained that usually HR suppose to pick up interviewees and bring them for the interview. They thought that same would be this time and since no one was showing up, they thought that it was me being late for the interview. Luckily for me, receptionist re-assured them that I have arrived way more in advance and was just patiently waiting at the reception.
Finally, finding the room and after second interviewer came interview started.
Interview started in tension, since second interviewer immediately made a comment about late starting time, and even comment of first interviewer that I was on time and there was apparently miscommunication did not seem to convince that person.
Interview has been started and continued mainly with technical questions asked by second interviewer. There were only two times interruptions from the first interviewer who made a disclaimer that the reason those questions are asked is because role is fully operational and almost no communication with customers. As per second interviewer, I was told that chance of me not interacting with customers is 99.9999999%.
It was quite surprising, since job description as well as name of the role implies that role is mainly for assisting to customers and some part of it is operational. (Job description is still available for checking on their website.)
Over the whole interview second interviewer has been constantly checking the phone, what did not give good impression. As well as, was objecting my examples from the previous work, claiming that this person knows functions and company well and described examples are not part of my functions. I had to reassure that described actions I have been doing proactively, over my personal initiative.
My personal perception of the interview - I have to admit that it was one of the most disastrous interviews I have ever had. I was super happy when interview was over, since it left me with a feeling, like I was at the interrogation with examinator that makes everything for failing me. After I left that room I felt horribly drained, and was left with the feeling that they have already their own preference and this interview was just for them to report that they did their best, but their own candidate is still better.
Maybe it is just a team thing and does not apply to the company in general, but I would advice to choose more wisely person you choose to be and interviewer.
