Applied online. Received an email to meet the hiring manager, MD of the alliances and fintech team. Interview was rescheduled a few times. When interview went ahead, interviewer turned up 15 minutes late with no apologies!! Speaks volumes for the respect for people. The interview seemed to go OK but it was clear that the interviewer wasn't experienced in the function she is leading. She spent her career as a very senior banker, and I expect she would be very good at that, but had little to no visible experience in fintech and partnerships, the team she is now leading. I have over 13 years experience in fintech and partnerships and her inexperience came across during the interview based on her questions and comments. Sadly this seems to be common in banks nowadays. The disappointing thing is that this role seems to be re-advertised almost weekly by UOB and they haven’t been able to fill this role for almost 7 months now!! Clearly something wrong there and makes sense - UOB has the wrong people on fintech and have delivered next to nothing in fintech for as long as I can see. If you just want a pay cheque, UOB may be ok. But if you want to actually achieve something and work with experts, then best to avoid.
