      Finance Coordinator Interview

      7 Jan 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at United Way in Sept 2010

      Interview

United Way's hiring and interview process was an absolute Joy to go through. It was incredibly simple, but it took longer than it should have. To begin, the job posting was posted on CareerBuilder with a contact email at the bottom, so sending my resume/coverletter took seconds as I already had it ready to go on my desktop. I was called for an interview about two weeks later at a specific date and time because their interviewing schedule was very tight. I would have missed the opportunity to interview if I didn't come in at the time they chose. As I arrived, I IMMEDIATELY felt comfortable. The receptionist was cordial and professional, the building was pleasant to the eye and the HR lady came down to meet with me very quick -- just like I like it. As I spoke with her, she effortlessly described the great things about United Way; how the organization helps the community, the benefits of working there, the laid back culture... And it gets even better : My interviewers were very relaxed and friendly. After discussing my resume and the position, we had a great conversation about whatever came to our minds : Nevada, Life, Travel, future plans, goals, etc. "This was the place I'm looking for!" I thought. I instantly felt apart of the family. After extending the interview an hour past the scheduled end point, I walked out knowing that the position was mine. A call for salary requirements came three weeks later. Second interview came another two weeks later, which consisted of more people to meet. Questions remained simple -- I enjoyed that they seemed more interested in my personality than my experience (although I have 4+years in Finance) Reference check came another week later and each call lasted about 20 mins. All four of my references joked that it felt like they should have the position instead of me, because unfortunately for them, the reference check was an interview in itself. :) Then, another person checked three of my references. Then another. They were doing everything in their power to make sure everything was valid about me. They take hiring very seriously. It all worked out in the end though. The job offer came the next day, and MY GOD, the pay was beautiful. Drug test followed a week later.

      Interview

Applied online was called for an interview after a week. The interview was very relax. Interview lasted over an hour and few of their questions were actually about the job. Was told I would get a call by the end of the week to schedule the second interview (there are three interviews in total). Well the week came to an end and they never call. I called them back and left a message and send an email but never heard back from them. I found out through social media that they had filled the position. Overall not very professional.

      Finance Coordinator Interview

      16 June 2010
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at United Way in June 2010

      Interview

It took a while for someone to contact me. I was finally contacted by phone. I was completely overdressed. I wore a pant suit with a collared shirt. The interview was with the executive director. He was wearing flip flops and cargo pants. Obviously, the culture was extremely laid back. Everyone was very nice. The interview was over a hour. After the first interview, I was contacted by email to return and meet members of their board. However, at this point I realized the organization was not for me. I declined to continue the application process. I would suggest that if you are interviewing, you are able to related your previous work experience with the job you are interviewing for. As previously stated, they are extremely low key. Regardless, they are looking for employees who are comfortable working and communicating with people on all different levels.
