The initial communication from the company was highly professional, though the timeline was slow from the outset, taking a full week just to invite me to an interview after my initial application. Despite the delay, the interview itself went exceptionally well. The hiring panel explicitly thanked me for the extensive preparation and effort I had put into the process, and the conversation felt very positive.
At the conclusion of the interview, I was explicitly promised an update within 24 to 48 hours. Unfortunately, the communication broke down entirely from this point.
After hearing nothing, I had to chase for an update on the third day. I must commend the HR representative, who went above and beyond to contact the hiring managers to secure an answer for me. I was then informed that I was unsuccessful, which—given the sudden delay and lack of proactive contact—was no longer a surprise.
Wanting to use this as a learning experience, I requested constructive feedback. I was told this would be requested from the relevant department.
After hearing nothing, I chased an update once again, only to be completely ignored.
It is incredibly disappointing that a company can openly praise a candidate's dedication during an interview, only to completely ghost them once they decide not to move forward. The hiring team's lack of accountability and feedback leaves a lasting, poor impression of the company's overall culture, despite HR's best efforts to bridge the gap.
