I applied online. I interviewed at VIPKid (New York, NY) in July 2017
Interview
The interview process was very straight forward. I was interviewed via skype from an American interviewer here in the states. Once you get through the interview process. You then have to teach a sample or mock class to the instructor. You teach two short lessons to two different levels. The interviewer acts as the student. Depending on how you do, you may get hired after the mock lesson or they may ask you to teach another mock lesson. You are given the materials in advance and there is a lot of support out there on YouTube. It is very competitive. Only 5%-10% get hired.
Got hired as a British speaking then cancelled as not from America which I disclosed at the first interview which I think was silly and unprofessional at the time it was during covid when this happpened.
Very lenghthy interview process, but the interviewers were nice and helpful. There were several steps to the process and it was pretty involved. I had to prepare a lesson beforehand
It was easy an straightforward. 1 interview and 2 mock classes to pass. They offer a contract for a year with option to renew after 1st contract is over. Overall the process last for about 2 weeks from the time you apply unless you are waitlisted.
