I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at VIPKid (Richmond, VA) in Mar 2018
Interview
If you do a PERFECT job on Mock 1, they'll approve you for actual levels straight off. That didn't happen to me (I had a 78/100 score), so I got the choice between a second mock class or a "VIPKID Kickoff Meeting." I chose the meeting, which was really cool actually. It was about 10 other new teachers and a mentor who was giving advice and answering questions. Once you do the Kickoff and submit your documents, you're ready to start teaching. Some people get approved right away for Major Course Levels, but I started with trials. I taught one trial, then recorded a demo for Level 2 and got approved the next day. (But have yet to teach anything but trials...).
VIPKID really appreciates your kind words. We work hard every day to offer an even better environment to the amazing teachers in our platform!

Application
I interviewed at VIPKid (China Grove, NC)
Interview
Application: Submit basic information (e.g., education, teaching experience) via VIPKid’s platform 35.
Demo Lesson: Choose between two options:
Smart Demo: A 5-minute recorded lesson (can be retaken) with a provided slide 319.
Live Demo: A 30-minute video call with a recruiter acting as a student, offering real-time feedback 320.
Mock Class: Teach a 10-minute lesson to a mentor posing as a student, focusing on VIPKid’s curriculum (e.g., Level 2-3 or 4-5) 312.
Training & Certification: Complete mandatory TESOL/TEFL training (if not already certified) 314.
Simple and straightforward. They give you all the demo material, which ends up being your PowerPoint slide. They look for a few simple markers to evaluate the teaching style, and the rest is pretty straightforward.
I interviewed with VIPKid back in the golden days, of showing an initial mock interview, followed by an offer, and then doing a lesson with the mock teacher/ Mentor. It was pass or fail. Today, it's a bit different. You apply, give your mock interview to the company and your pay rate is based on a tier system of total classes taught.
