      Fabricator Interview

      19 Dec 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Vayu (Mi) (New York, NY) in July 2017

      Interview

Interviewed over the phone. CEO was highly energetic about what he was building at the time. Got this 'car salesman' vibe off of the ceo, and although the offer he made was fair, it seemed as if he rushed the offer- and tried to rush me to agree. I suspect they were short handed and needed to fulfill deliveries. Part of this pressure was from not even having met the CEO in person. I was asked to 'verbally accept' in 4 days. I requested to see their facility in Ann Arbor before making the decision. We never set up the tour, and decided ultimately to remain an engineer intern at my present job rather than become a fabricator. Right choice IMO. The position I was offered was fabricator. When I asked if I'd be able to help make design changes based on my RC and Engineering experience, I was told pretty bluntly that I'd be building what other people designed. Yes, the position I was being was interviewed for was Fabricator, but I guess I really had my mind set in being a designer/engineer; I just was being offered a job I didn't want. Ultimately this resulting in me kindly refusing the offer. I was and still follow this company when it crosses my mind. I like their ideas, and miss their old/original flying wing design. Even the photos of it online are totally gone...
