      Sales Representative Interview

      3 June 2012
      Anonymous employee
      San Diego, CA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Vector Marketing (San Diego, CA) in May 2012

      Interview

I was trying to get a part time job at that time.I got to know this company through a flyer and later I applied this position online. They advertised this sale representative job as either a part time or full time position. I received a call from them in the morning the day after I filled the online application. They asked me to go to there office the same afternoon since their manager wanted to fill the position ASAP and thats the only available time for him. And then I accepted the appointment, but they actually said little about the position over the phone. I was very skeptical about this job. When I arrived, I met their manager and then he asked me to filled out a form for basic information and read a paper of information about the position and the payment, as well as the company background. After I finished the above process, the interview started. The only legit interview question he asked was tell me about your last job. I just gave a very simple and general answer. By the way, I did not even have my resume with me until I asked him if he would like to take a look at my resume.(I did not bring resume because the staff told me that was only a meet up with the manager) he replied me that it was always good to have a chance to read your resume. In the end, he called this as the screening interview and I was invited for a second round. Next day I came again with my resume, I was a bit nervous for the second round because I thought this was going to be a serious one even for a part time job. But it turned out the manager hosted an hour presentation introducing the company and the position. I was been told that I didn't require to sell business to friends and family so i accepted the training program which was the first step for the part time sale representitive. After I went to the training seminar, I realized this was totally a direct sales agent work with huge selling pressures and high commitment with the company. They just pushed you to follow exactly what they asked you to do and started to set up appointments with friends and family on the second day of training. The training was a three consecutive day training lasted ard six hours each day. I canceled the training on the third day because this was not a option for part time or summer job. Even for full time position, there are still too much over time work. After all the manger in the San Diego office was a very nice, kind, helpful and hardworking guy.
