      Consultant Interview

      21 Nov 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Zoomvliet
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Veeva Systems (Zoomvliet) in Aug 2025

      Interview

Three months, four stages, and a lot of preparation. I passed every round and received positive feedback throughout, only to be rejected at the final approval stage by “US Top Management” for “inconsistent career history.” I had been completely transparent about my background from the start. They conduct an entire one-hour Job History interview and ask detailed questions about every role throughout all stages, so hearing that reason after being told I’d performed very well and that references were checked was a shock. The hiring manager even said “not to worry over the weekend” while waiting for the approval stage, but when I asked for clarification afterward, I was ignored twice. HR later provided generic feedback that contradicted what I’d been told during the process. It was very impersonal by the end, which was disappointing given how promising the early stages were. Below are the questions I was asked in each stage — hopefully they help others prepare. For reference, I requested a base salary of £65–70K (4yrs experience as Consultant) which seemed just about acceptable to the team.

      Interview questions [4]

      Question 1

Stage 1: Why are you applying for this role? Are you applying elsewhere? What appeals specifically about Veeva? What do you know about Veeva and its products? Walk me through your career so far. What is your current role? What’s your biggest impact so far? Describe the team structure. Most satisfying part of the job? Biggest challenge or improvement? Technical experience/configuration? Can you give an example of learning something challenging quickly? Do you prefer full ownership or team work? Which do you enjoy more: technical work or client-facing/soft skills? Future career goals?
      Answer question

      Question 2

For the mini-case, it'll require about 30-40 hours honestly. Software is a bit outdated and old school so it's not very user friendly at first. ChatGPT can help guide you quite a lot but it's not perfect with the Vault. Keep you powerpoint deck landscape, start with that and then leave it and focus on the solution. Start with a dashboard, and then individual reports/backend. They asked me questions on if I were to change the price of a gift box, how would I do it so it doesn't interfere with the original price/sales history, and have a easy way for the user to input metadata.

      Question 3

Why Veeva stage: “Tell me about your first 20 years: hobbies, influences, what you wanted to be.” “Did you grow up in the UK?” “What early experiences taught you responsibility or work ethic?” “Tell me about your life at 12 — what did you like to do?” “Which school subjects did you like most?” “What led you to study X at university?” “What did you enjoy most about it? What did you enjoy least?” “When you started, did you know what you wanted to do?” “Did you work during studies? What roles?” “What did you like about working at X?” “What were the biggest challenges of group lab projects at uni?” “Was under-performance more about skills or attitude?” “How did you handle a teammate who was lagging?” “In your roles, how have you helped a team succeed without being the formal lead?” “What specific activities did you take on to help the team?” “How do you make sure all voices are heard, especially introverted teammates?” “Have you had very repetitive tasks? How did you push through and stay motivated?” “Have you had a task that dragged on (e.g., delayed go-live)? How did you handle it?” Describe a time something was assigned and you didn’t know how to do it — what did you do?” “More generally, how do you approach situations when you don’t know the answer?” “Tell me about a time you got something wrong — how did you handle it?” “What’s the most valuable feedback you’ve received?” “How do you feel when told you need to improve?” “If learning plateaus and things get repetitive, how do you stay engaged/motivated?” “Are you excited to explore different roles/product areas over time?” “What motivates you most at work?” “What makes you stay longer at a company, and what would make you leave?” “What’s most attractive about Veeva to you?” “What are your top expectations from this role (mix, variety, responsibilities)?”
      Answer question

      Question 4

Job History; What made you choose X Subject at Uni? How would you describe yourself as a student — analytical, hands-on, collaborative? What role do you usually play in a group project? Have you had situations where some team members didn’t contribute equally? How did you handle it? Do you have any project or experience from university that influenced your career direction? After graduating, how did you decide what to do next? What did you learn the most from during your studies or early professional steps? Was there anyone who influenced you in particular? How did you come to join X? Was that during or after your studies? Why did you decide to work there? What was your role and what were you responsible for? What did you find most rewarding in that work? What do you think made you successful or led to that recognition? You left X in 2021 — why did you decide to quit? How did you balance the technical and consulting aspects of that role? How did you find X job? Were you tempted to go back there? Who did you work most closely with there? What was your most valuable learning from that experience? You mentioned doing a Google Data Analytics course — what did that involve and why did you do it? What do you prefer: configuring applications or working with data? How did you join X? Why did you decide to work there — what attracted you to the role? Which project at X do you consider most impactful? What does successful delivery look like for you in your current role? How do you work with clients — more independently or as part of a team? Have you ever had a project that didn’t go as planned? Can you give an example of how you handled a situation with scope creep or changing requirements? Can you give an example of a project where requirements changed mid-way and how you managed that? What was your role and responsibility in those situations? What keeps you motivated after several years in the same company? Did you have a mentor or someone who supported your growth at X? What makes a team enjoyable for you to work in? What makes a company worth staying in for a long time? What keeps you engaged — meaningful work, opportunities, contribution to something bigger? Can you describe how your compensation is currently structured? What is your current base salary and bonus structure? What are your compensation expectations for this new role?

there's this new personality test that wasn't there in the previous year... pretty basic but also i find it silly to use this as a metric of value. i didn't get past this because i think i kept overthinking the test. just answer honestly and consistently.
