      Marketing Data Analyst Interview

      13 June 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Veeva Systems (New York, NY) in Apr 2024

      Interview

Bizarre process. Initial interview was general intro/HR, very easy. Then, a follow-up Excel spreadsheet to ensure you can do logical problems. These two steps were expected, and were not too difficult to complete. However, the following 3 interviews were quite unclear and frustrating. I prepared quite a bit and for the first, was introduced to an interviewer via Zoom who had a very thick accent, and I had trouble understanding what exactly my prompt was. After I asked this interviewer a few times for clarification on what they would like me to do, the individual seemingly got very frustrated with me and told me to 'just answer the question'. I then had to control an entire Excel document (with multiple sheets) THROUGH ZOOM. As you can expect, this was extremely laggy, and I could barely see the numbers, input formulas, or even navigate what I was doing since I was trying to utilize Excel through the Zoom screen-share option. I asked a few questions regarding the interviewer's experience with the company, what kind of work they did, etc. and they either did not understand what I was asking, or decided to ignore it because they kept just replying with "ok it's good". The 2nd interview went really in depth on my resume and experience. This was fairly easy, but they definitely want to know your 'why' for the position and company from a deeper level. Finally, 3rd interview was the group case interview, which is making a budget. Everyone is fighting to be the most active and engaging in a group interview, which, in my opinion, doesn't really allow for anyone's strengths to be portrayed other than the most talkative candidates, and it was pretty frustrating that I got no feedback after a 4-step interview process for an entry level position.
