I applied online. I interviewed at Velapoint (Portland, OR) in June 2015
Interview
The interview process was very easy, they are anxious to hire agents that they can take advantage of for open enrollment. They will tell you that you can make thousands of dollars and show you examples of agent commissions that are completely a lie. After open enrollment they will pay you pennies for your polices and tell you that that is how the comp plan actually works, which is completely different than what they will tell you while you are interviewing. But after open enrollment they will want to get rid of you so they don't have to payout commission and they can keep all of the money from the policies you sold for them for themselves.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Velapoint (Beaverton, OR) in Sept 2014
Interview
It was pretty casual. You can flip their decision by showing enthusiasm. They tend to hire just about anyone. It's awkward when they take you to one of the offices because it opens up into a giant room where everyone just stares at you as you're going into your interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Your resume and previous work history states a technical background, why do you want to work here?
We're so glad that you decided to join the team! VelaPoint works hard to keep the interview and hiring process as easy and painless as possible. We're sorry to hear that the open office floor plan made you feel a bit uneasy during your interview, but we find the open layout is most conducive to the collaborative team environment that we foster at VelaPoint. We hope you've come to love it as much as we do!
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Velapoint (Hillsboro, OR) in July 2014
Interview
Group Interview. Will Hire you on the spot if you can fog up a mirror. Company completely miscalculated demand for agents and was taking just about anyone. No drug test was required and it was obvious by looking at some of the people they hired. After a presentation to 30 people, we were broken up into groups of 2-3 and were asked questions by HR staff and Sales managers.

Question 1
What is your motivation for wanting to make lots of money?
Thank you for taking the time to provide a response. We, like all insurance brokerages, do begin recruiting and hiring efforts in preparation for the open enrollment season. We host recruiting events and hold group and individual interviews in an effort to identify excellent and qualified candidates.
And, although we do provide our agents with a road map to building the career and earning the compensation that’s right for them, we’re also pleased to announce that VelaPoint does offer group health insurance benefits to its eligible full-time employees.
