      Associate Project Coordinator Interview

      20 Oct 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Velex

      Interview

3-part interview. First stage was a one way video interview. Second stage was a two way video chat interview. Third stage was an in-person interview. The second stage of the interview was interesting because he was part of the hiring team but was located in another office so ultimately I probably wouldn't have worked with him anyway. I made it to the final stage of interviews but the manager I was supposed to meet with had a surprise call with a client, so I actually interviewed with 2 other employees who had to think on their feet and had not previously seen my resume. They also didn't have interview questions prepped for me, obviously. I thought it was unfair and put me at a huge disadvantage that I never met the person who ultimately made the hiring decision and that I likely had a completely different experience than other candidates. Please respect your candidates' time and make arrangements to follow through.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Velex (Frisco, TX) in July 2017

      Interview

Initially, I applied for a position with Velex's parent company, Nexius, but was passed off to Velex. Nexius has several subsidiaries and each person I spoke to at Nexius could not give a clear answer as to what each did. First, I was asked to conduct a one-sided video interview (company provides questions, you record yourself answering). Second, I was phone screened by a recruiter who was very nice and was knowledgeable of the position. Third, I was brought in to interview about a week later. I was supposed to meet with two interviewers, but one was pulled away on a project and the other conducted the interview. I thought I had performed well during the interview. I brought in examples of relevant work, had adequate answers for all questions, and was okay with the sub-par salary they were offering (salary was on the bottom of the spectrum for the area and definitely would be difficult to live on in Frisco, TX. I sent off a thank you email to the hiring manager and recruiter after the interview, but did not hear back about the position until about a month after the interview. Complete radio silence until they sent a rejection email.
