      I interviewed at Venngage

      Interview

Applied online followed by a 30 minute phone interview and a design challenge. Initially, I was sketched out by the "hi there" template email that was clearly cut, copied and pasted. Similar to what other reviewers voiced, they are quite non-responsive after a certain point in the process where after submitting the challenge, they just don't get back to you. I had to email them back and at that point I received a generic "sorry" email that was, again, clearly copied and pasted. Also the design challenge requires you to "redesign" a product that is already well-designed so there is not much to do unless you intend on overhauling the entire product... I think the interview process is pretty standard but the way they approached it (requiring work to be submitting and not providing feedback; generic email templates used) is just not at all conscientious to candidates. I understand that the recruiting process can get hectic and that not everyone is a fit, but respect is a two way street - not providing feedback after requiring a submission, as well as copying and pasting emails in communication says more about the company than it should.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Venngage in Mar 2019

      Interview

The hiring process was very clear and thoughtful. The first step involved filling out a questionnaire asking questions on past experience and what I learned from it, and suggestions that I would make to the app and why. I felt confident that if someone took the time to create such a thoughtful questionnaire—not just your classic “send us your portfolio and resume!”—that they would take the time to read my responses. And indeed they did! After a couple of weeks I was asked to jump on a 30 minute call with the design manager. We talked about past projects and my design process. At the end of the call, I was sent a design challenge. The expectations were super clear and I was assured that if I had any questions I shouldn’t hesitate to ask. Once I turned in the design challenge I was brought in for a half-day on-site interview. Again, it was very thoughtful and thorough. I was able to meet a few folks from different teams. Although every person I met with was certainly interviewing me it definitely gave me the opportunity to get to the know people at the company. They made me feel at ease and welcomed. It didn’t feel forced at all. All in all it was a great interview process. And the best part is that they sent me an offer first thing the following morning!
