      Manager Interview

      13 Apr 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Plantation, FL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Virgin Voyages (Plantation, FL) in Mar 2019

      Interview

I applied via LinkedIn and received an invitation to have a phone interview/conversation with Jessica, the recruiter. Jessica was incredibly kind and thorough during the entire recruitment process and made the interview a breeze! She made it very clear what they were looking for in terms of company/culture fit. A week later I had an invitation to meet with the director via a virtual interview. Again, he was very clear in what they were looking for in a leader to fit the company/culture/vision, etc. A little later, I had an invitation to come down to the office in Plantation. The office is an exceptionally beautiful and unique office, and the culture shines through every person that is there. I met with 6 other managers/sr manager/directors during that time. From application to offer - it was a little over 3 weeks. The only reason I selected that this was a "difficult" interview, is because they know exactly who they are looking for in terms of a good fit for the company. Every single person cares about who they bring into the team and wants to make sure that you are going to be a positive addition to the company.

      Question 1

I don't think there were any difficult questions, it's all about ensuring they are getting the right person for the role.

      Manager Interview

      4 Sept 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Miami, FL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Virgin Voyages (Miami, FL) in Aug 2018

      Interview

I was contacted by a very friendly recruiter. She explained the process very thoroughly and even gave me a few pointers on how next steps would be. She then set me up for a High five interview with the Director of the department. I made sure to prepare for this interview as if it depended on my life. I was very excited to receive a call and an opportunity to possibly make a difference with my knowledge and skills. I even made sure my internet and phone connection was in line as am expecting a skype interview. Unfortunately, I was not told beforehand that the director of the department would not meet with me or that I would be interviewing with a manager from another department that had nothing to do with the position I was applying for. This was a surprise but I prepared for any obstacle. When I called into the interview on skype the screen was black. I mentioned that I couldn’t see them, she replied back “I don’t have this on my laptop, sorry”. I guess whats the point of doing a skype interview? The manager was very rude and condescending, and it was nothing compared to the interview I had with the recruiter. She began to question my resume and experience and her tone of voice assured me that she was not interested in bringing me in to the office. It sounded like her mind was made up on who she was bringing in to meet with the hiring manager. I receive an email 2 days later that they were moving forward with other candidates with more experience. The word in the cruise industry about being hired it’s who you know and who is the youngest. Forget that you have experience in the field and your accolades. There have been numerous top talented cruise industry key veterans with high accolades who have applied and get turned down which is mind blowing. Best of luck to Virgin Voyages and hope Mr. Bransons vision is not ruined.
