This was an interesting interview - responded to an online advert via indeed.com for a Customer Service Rep and to "call for an interview". I called and a interview was scheduled for the next day. From the call I learned that it would be with a total of 4 people, and to bring a "copy of my resume".
Arriving a bit early for my interview w/resume in hand I checked in at the reception desk and was told to go to the training room for the interview. Upon, entering the training room I was surprised to see at 30 others in the room for "the interview"!
I found a seat and chatted with the person next to me for a moment and asked if this was a "group interview", as I've "been there, done that" and those are the worst. That person, wasn't aware and was also nervous as they thought the interview was just set up as a "one on one" for them also!
Promptly, at the scheduled interview time, the owners and 2 other Lead Management team members came into the room, and the owner gave a introduction, thanked us all for being there, and we watched a brief presentation on the overhead about the company, the job and what the interview process would entail.
We were also given to handouts: one with the job description, the other with job benefits.
The interview process was detailed as: Everyone would have (2) minutes to interview with the 4 Members of Management. When the buzzer went off you moved on to the next member. Then you were done. So, you had a total of 8 minutes to "sell yourself" according to the questions asked with each Member.
The last person you were to meet with in that 4 member tier was the one of the owners and you were to give him a copy of your resume, and then within a few days if you heard from them you were coming back for a 2nd interview.
I thought the interview process was very interesting, and it made the interviewee "think on their feet", and learn how to sell themselves in such a limited time period. Also, it was very fair of the company to do the interview in today's economy, when there are so many people looking for work and spending so much time filling out online applications, sending out resumes- waiting and never hearing back from potential employers. This way everyone actually got a interview, and a "chance" per se..albeit short and sweet.
Even though I didn't get the job, I walked away from it feeling positive and thankful that I had a chance at something, which is better than nothing.
Would I interview again if given the chance? Yes, this company has a great reputation within the community and it treated everyone with dignity that came in for the interview.
