I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Waffle House (Atlanta, GA) in Apr 2011
Interview
First, I interviewed with the human resource manager at a career fair. They told me they were interested in athletes and military veterans. This is because you will work insane hours...11-hour days, ALL holidays, starting at 6:00 every morning and be on-call throughout the entire day and night in case you have to come in and manage. In my initial meeting with the human resource manager, he told me everybody who has worked for Waffle House started off at the lowest level and worked their way up. I then interviewed with the district manager who confirms whether or not you are worthy of a position and to continue the interviewing process. If you are, you take an IQ test and a personality test. They told me to answer the questions based on what they are looking for...not how you really feel personally. The test consisted of about 300 words to describe yourself and some simple math problems After you take the IQ/Personality tests you will receive a hair drug test. You will then go to the next phase of the interview called the "experience" portion where you will have to work 2 days starting at 6:30. Here I found out that the human resource manager did not start from the bottom like everybody and doesn't have the experience. After working the 2 days, you will be evaluated by the regional manager who will then evaluate your entire interview and the off will be made.

Question 1
Why do you think you're qualified to work for Waffle House?
I applied online. I interviewed at Waffle House (Grayson, GA) in Dec 2025
Interview
Initial application was met with a recruiter who went over the job description and talked about my credentials. I then had an interview person interview with 2 division managers (location I applied for was already filled but they still wanted me to interview as I was open to traveling outside of my city). Had to take the management assessment After that, another in person interview with the area manger. Was asked to come in that weekend for the 2 day In Unit the same day of my interview with the area manager. During the in unit shifts, you really get an understanding of how Waffle House operates! HR manager followed up that Monday and explained the steps to the contingent offer (background and drug test) and a formal offer comes next.

Area manager interview is a lot more in depth.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Waffle House (Vestavia Hills, AL) in Oct 2023
Interview
I found that the interview was an extremely pleasant process. Once it got going, from what I can tell, it’s going to end up being an incredible experience. I still am going this weekend to do the two days of essentially seeing if the job is something that I’ll want to continue forward with the company. I also have to submit to a hair follicle test and background check. None of these will be an issue so I’m not worried about it. I have not received an offer yet. However, that will be what we discussed after these two days. It did not give me the option to add that as an answer to the below question. I’m hopeful that things will go quite well, and I’ll be a great fit with the company.
