I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Wagento in Feb 2022
Interview

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Wagento (Los Angeles, CA) in May 2023
Interview
Five rounds over a period of 10 weeks. This company has been trying to fill this position for several months now. They offered me a compensation package heavily reliant on commission and are not inclined to provide benefits, as the position is on contract. The offer comprised a 60% base salary and 40% commission split. Despite receiving a low-ball offer, I accepted it because I was relocating to a city with a lower cost of living. However, the CEO was unhappy with my decision and preferred that I stay in a higher cost of living area, even though the role was remote! He suggested "renegotiating compensation based on location." I firmly expressed that compensation was non-negotiable for me, as it was already low. In response, they promised to reconsider but ended up ghosting me after five rounds of interviews over a ten-week period. This behavior left me with the impression that they wanted their employees to be financially strained. Moreover, a colleague in the marketing industry provided a negative reference about the CEO. He stated, "oooh he and I talked about a contract marketing role for months. He kept changing the role and eventually wanted it to be a commission-based comp plan. So, it was not a good experience." I fully agree with this assessment. It seems that the CEO is seeking guaranteed upside and may be quick to change his mind or terminate employees abruptly. Furthermore, I believe CEOs with such tendencies tend to exploit and mistreat their workforce. Notably, it doesn't surprise me that this CEO is from India and appears to favor outsourcing as much work as possible to India and Mexico.
