My initial interaction with the HR was very positive, he explained the role to me and communicated all the benefits as well. I was asked a few questions like what got me interested in the role and a few yes/no questions.
Unfortunately, my interview with the hiring manager was an equally negative experience. The interviewer kept jumping to incorrect conclusions throughout the discussion. There were strong undertones of her “challenging” my answers instead of “inquiring” and actually listening. For almost all of my answers, I would be interrupted mid-answer and would be told “so you don’t have experience in xyz” and then she would immediately jump onto the next question (very rude). The first few times I did clarify that I have worked on xyz thing and elaborated further, but since this was the theme for every question, I gave up trying to explain after some time. All the questions were structured like “Do you have experience in X”, halfway through the interview I said it out loud that “I do have experience in X but it seems to me that any answer I’m presenting is not able to communicate that I do”.
I don’t think I would have accepted an offer for that team after this experience, even though the company has very positive reviews about the culture, but immediate management matters a lot.
