The first step in the process involved a 6-question long test. I submitted this on time and put a great deal of effort into it. It tested various elements of content and concepts. Sadly, I then received a response simply saying my experience didn't match - the only area I was lacking was writing for TV. This should be identified upon review of the CV before asking people to give their time and effort to put a test presentation together. Incredibly disappointing experience.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Weylandts Home (Cape Town) in Feb 2019
Interview
Wow. Whilst the location is beautiful, it quickly went sour after meeting with the interviewers. I was surprised at the questions as well as the absolute bias during the interviews. Again, why are you focusing on what someone did 20 years ago vs the last 5-8 years worth of relevance. I also sensed fear, the interviewers did not seem tech-savvy nor did they seem prepared or even in tune with Industry 4.0. I absolutely cringed when the one individual told me that they look for a "certain look and feel". She repeated that. Of course, as a person of colour being interviewed by 2 white females, this came across as nothing but bias.
No relevant questions asked, only focused and repeatedly so, on what I did many years ago. The interviewers lacked EQ, best practice interviewing skills and gave me a clear indication of the culture they represent.
