I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Whop in Aug 2024
Interview
Was given a botched 30min take home quiz. Initially when I received the link to the quiz via email, I was told that the deadline was for a date which had already expired (3 or so days prior to receiving the email). I reached out to the interviewer and asked if there was a typo; to which they apologized and provided an updated correct deadline for the quiz.
I did the take home quiz no problem, and was ghosted. My understanding is that they most likely filled this position as the job posting was taken down that same week. I reached out anyway for confirmation/clarity and got no response. Overall not very professional and probably dodged a bullet! Your mileage may vary.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Whop (New York, NY) in Oct 2024
Interview
I'm rating this interview "positive" because I think it gave me a good sense of what working for the company would be like -- i.e., extremely negative. The CTO interviewed me. He really drove home that: everyone works 12 hours a day, five days a week; there's no formal code review process; reverts happen frequently; there are no QA engineers and devs are expected to fully QA their code; they're interested in "moving fast and breaking stuff," not "engineering excellence." TBH I'm not sure why they need to work so many hours to build a CRUDdy Rails app version of Etsy for hustle culture self-help schemes, but I guess that's why I'm not a 12 year old founder ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
