      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Working America (Phoenix, AZ) in July 2024

      Interview

The first interview of sorts was a more of a lecture. The six of us looking for a job were seated and explained the job details and what the schedule looked like for each day. It wasn't a bad experience, but I wish it was stated beforehand. My anxiety shot through the roof went it was sprung on us. Not to mention we were all asked questions together. Obviously the point was to hire all of us after picking out who didn't click with the rest, but it still felt nerve-wracking.

      Interview

Phone interview only. Basically tried to sell me on the job, which is canvassing. Very easy interview. No in person interview was conducted. Relatively easy job to get and no difficult questions were asked.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Working America (Tucson, AZ) in Mar 2024

      Interview

The main thing that motivated me to leave this review was the fact that there are several reviews here already that mention the observation day but none that talk about it. I applied for a position listed as "Community Organizer" and later learned it's the exact same as their canvasser position. Part one: phone "interview": this is more a screening. They give a vague description of the job, then ask if you are okay with the hours and if you have a COVID19 Vaccination. Part 2: more like a normal interview, but just as simple as the screening. They ask things to make sure you'd be comfortable doing the job like being on your feet, pitching ideas to strangers, bothering people basically, and getting involved with elections (in a way that's technically non partisan but tbh I can't really imagine a republican working for them) Observation day: This is a fully paid, 8 hour shift where you're kinda in training. You show up early to fill out paperwork and then sit in on the meeting that they have everyday, then when you're out in the field you follow a leader around watching them canvass for an hour, then you canvass for another hour while they watch you, then if youre doing well you do it for another 2 or three hours by yourself before everyone heads back to the office. It was pretty easy once I could remember what to say and how to navigate the iPad apps. I took the job. I have reservations based on the reviews on this site so I will be keeping my options open and saving up just in case they lay me off sudden. But I actually enjoyed doing it, aside from the part where you have to at least attempt to talk to people who clearly don't want to talk to you, but most of all the people who I was working with were so kind and amazing and easy to vibe with that it really made me want this job. In terms of safety, I'm not too worried, but do note that I'm a man so that affects my concerns there. Your team is never far away from you, you have an iPad that is tracking your location at all times, and well while my city is known for high crime rates I know that's mostly property crime, not violent crime. I would reccomend a flashlight but most canvassing hours will be during the day time.
