I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at World Market (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2012
Interview
The interview is very casually down in the back office with the store General Manager, sometime out on the floor at one of the dining room tables, sometimes an Assistant Manager may be asked to interview a potential employee. As long as you have some customer service experience and are outwardly friendly, you can easily get hired here.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What kind of work experience do you have? Describe a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer.
Easy! Was professional, engaging, and made the experience comfortable. They asked insightful questions, actively listened, and provided clear insights about the role. I left feeling motivated and excited about the opportunity
The process started with a relaxed group interview conducted by two different managers. Typical interview questions were asked such as "What makes you qualified for this position?", "Why are you interested in Cost Plus?", etc. Follow-up individual interview with GM after the group interview and was offered the job on the spot. Managers made the process very comfortable and relaxed compared to other interviews.
