The interview went kindly and joyfully until the candidate abrasively accused the CEO of asking a question for age determination purposes. The candidate listed a Journalism degree in their resume but did not reveal the year of graduation. The CEO simply asked what year the candidate received their degree. Journalism skills were relevant to the position and Journalism is a dynamic field that changes rapidly with technology and best practices. The CEO's question was extremely reasonable, and the accusation that the question had age-related motives was deemed offensive by many of the interviewers. The candidate response revealed much about their character and inability to constructively communicate with senior leadership.
