Applied for one job, was recruited into a different job. Took a behavioral assessment. Had a phone screen and the recruiter was cold - I thought I didn't get it. Moved to the next round with the C-level exec, and then an interview with a team director. The people I spoke with in the 1:1 interviews were friendly and knowledgeable. Then I was invited to come onsite for another team interview. I asked the recruiter about timing expectations and logistics so I could plan for the interview around my current job responsibilities. (A video interview would be preferable, but I would be happy to come in person.) The recruiter said she would get back to me about scheduling. One week later the recruiter emails me saying that they are moving forward with other candidates. But I thought we were going to the next round? I asked for feedback and she said she "thought I wasn't interested" because I was concerned about scheduling. I have had many successful interviews and never have had a "misunderstanding" with a recruiter - they are always personable and effective communicators. Lesson learned - show you are willing to drop everything to meet with YU. Also the recruiter may communicate poorly & basically create a misunderstanding once they decide you're not the top candidate.
